Cat's Cradle

In a world threatened by nuclear destruction, Dr Felix Hoenikker, a key figure in the creation of the atomic bomb, has left behind a dangerous invention called ice-nine, which can freeze any liquid it touches. As his three unusual children search for this lethal substance, they encounter a manic Caribbean dictator and face the chaos that ensues. The story explores humanity's struggle with its own creations and the absurdity of life on the brink of annihilation, all conveyed with Vonnegut's signature dark humour.
